Boeing: Semi-Autonomous Propulsion

Laurie King

Designed in partnership with Boeing to celebrate National Engineers Week, the Semi-Autonomous Propulsion Challenge is a Solve It! Spotlight Challenge. Solve It is a series of STEM Challenges, developed by the Office of the Maricopa County School Superintendent, that challenge students to solve real-world challenges that impact their lives or passions.

The challenge is to think like an engineer and research the challenges and obstacles with exploring and navigating the ocean floor and design a solution to modify a self-propelling model boat to solve a problem.

🔥 Also, check out the STEM Pro Live episodes with Boeing, they make great introductions to the lesson plans and connect students with real-world learning.

🔥 Finally, included is Boeing’s Extended-Reality Video and Companion Activities that enable students to virtually explore the sea and learn how deep-sea exploration contributes to solving problems here at the surface.
