Time for Teachers to Share Virtual Learning Success

Guest User

With so many students learning virtually this year, teachers are doing their best to adjust their practices to meet the needs of our learners in this environment.  Teachers keep getting more resources provided as options to support digital learning but have very little time to wade through all of the options.  They are begging to have time to hear directly from teachers who have found success and want to see how they use a resource in action.

Consider this as you are planning for your Professional Development time or as you write newsletters to staff.   Could your professional learning, collaborative team time, or newsletters feature your own teachers sharing how they are incorporating new resources or techniques in a virtual setting?  Many of us are recording lessons.  Can you get permission to share clips with other teachers?  How can you highlight practices you want to see more of?  How can you celebrate teachers who are taking risks and finding success?

If you need outside support, this short Edutopia article on "7 Ways to Do Formative Assessments in Your Virtual Classroom" uses examples and suggestions of strategies that were recommended by teachers and principals who are using them in their virtual classes.  See if you have teachers who are willing to test some of these out and share their success with their teams.   You may even be able to have some friendly competition to see which methods show the most student growth.

Teachers will appreciate the time to learn from those who are in the trenches and you can help guide the types of practices you want to see more of on your campus!
