The ability to learn is one of the most important skills we possess. To be good at it, we must understand and believe that mistakes are necessary in the learning process. We learn from our failures, embrace our mistakes and try again…. it’s how we are built to learn!
Do your students approach learning as learners or lizards? Learners treat every situation as an opportunity to grow. They enjoy taking risks, doing things that are hard and create struggle, speaking up, and moving out of their comfort zone. With this approach, learners accelerate and deepen their learning. On the other hand, lizards miss out on learning because they play it safe, do things that are easy, give up, procrastinate, and stay in their comfort zone. All the things that lizards hate are what help us learn and grow.
